He is a professor, Ph.D Supervisor of the school of design of Jiangnan University and expert with the special allowance of the State Council. He is the leader of the national class teaching team, the New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education and the Famous Teacher in Jiangsu Province. He also has a lot of part-time academic positions. More than ten publications and more than 60 papers have been published. A number of achievements in teaching and scientific research have been awarded to the national, provincial and ministerial awards.
The researches were mainly revolves around the protection and utilisation of the architectural art heritages. The research concretely focused on the inheritance design of historic blocks and traditional architectures which represent characteristic of cities in Jiangnan area in China. The goal of research is to establish cognition and value judgments method of traditional architectures from design angle for laying the theoretical foundation to inheritance design in urban cities.
